13 months: It's Summertime!

I am so glad to be out for the summer and spend time with Corbin. It has been nice relaxing and getting caught up on projects at the house that I have wanted to get done. I have a feeling we are going to spend a lot of time at the pool since it is so hot! This boy started walking probably 3 or 4 days after he turned 1! He had been taking several steps together but when we bought him the bouncy ball for his birthday party his walking really started to take off. He would use the ball as a big walker and would throw it and then chase after it. Now he is REALLY into everything and we just put up 2 gates in our house to help me out this summer. He loves to go through cabinets and just pull everything out. He seems to always be able to find some sort of treasure. He is also talking more and more now and communicating a lot. He is pointing and will make an attempt to repeat many words that I say (even though the majority of them sounds like "da"). He says dada, mama, uh-oh, doggie, hey, and bye-bye and can follow numerous directions like pet the doggie, or bring it to mommy or daddy. He LOVES to play hide and seek and "Where's Corbin". Just the other day he started to blow bubbles in the tub so I guess our swim class lessons paid off (even though I think Daddy taught that to him). He has such a great sense of humor and is always laughing (unless you take something away from him or tell him no). For awhile he was signing "I love you" but now it seems to have disappeared but he will also sign more and finished when eating. I guess I love you will come back...I swear it sounded like he even said it and I do have witnesses.
Enjoying his birthday present from Mommy and Daddy.

Spaghetti

This boy has finally started eating more things! He now LOVES spaghetti and has even started trying to use a spoon to eat. Since I am out for the summer we are eating lots of meals together and he will often point at what I am eating and wants to try it. He still isn't too sure about bread but I am so glad that he is more open to trying new things. I guess he isn't going to starve after all!

1 year old

On his "birth" day
Mommy & Son love

On his First Birthday: 1 year old
Look how much you have grown
Corbin, we wish and pray for so much for you and have enjoyed watching you grow and learn new things. I know it won't be much longer and you will be walking. Just today you took 6-7 steps on your own. You are soaking up everything that you can and trying to learn so much but our prayer for you is to be healthy, loving, and most of all a child of God. We pray for you everyday and know that God has great plans for your life. We also pray for guidance as your parents and that we will make wise decisions for your life. You have been such a blessing in our lives and we look forward to the years to come. You are ALL boy so I am sure you will keep us on our toes. Mommy is scared of all of the things you are probably going to get into. You are so passionate about life and curious to learn new and different things. May we continue to cherish each day that we have together as a family.

"That Little Boy of Mine"
Two eyes that shine so bright,
Two lips that kiss goodnight.
Two arms that hold me tight,
That little boy of mine.

No one could ever know how much your coming has meant.
Because I love you so, you're something heaven has sent.

You're all the world to me.
You climb upon my knee.
To me you'll always be,
That little boy of mine.

First Birthday Party

This past Sunday we were fortunate enough to have a party with our family and friends for Corbin. We were so blessed that the weather cooperated and we were able to enjoy the sunshine (for the most part). It is hard to believe that our little boy is already 1 year old...it is true what they say, "The days are long but the years are short." We have truly enjoyed every second we have gotten to spend with our little boy and we look forward to each day ahead as we watch him grow and learn new things. He is truly a blessed and loved little boy! Thanks to everyone who was able to come and share this special day! Here are some pictures below:

Josh and I made this sign to celebrate the day.
Cake made by Helen (H of cakes)!
He is thinking...what is this thing on my head!
Ha...I got it off!
In true Corbin style he did not eat any cake. He is having a hard time right now with food in general so we weren't surprised at all when he didn't go for any cake. I actually had to smear some icing on his face to get the picture below. I know, one day I will look back on this and think-he didn't want cake?
Maybe if I push it over here no one will notice.

Yay for my birthday party!

Our only family picture from the day...we were all tired at this point and it was time for Corbin to head to bed!

My new swing

I love my new swing!
Push me high Mommy!

Easter

Corbin had a great first Easter celebrating with friends and family. He was so excited to get his Easter basket. We enjoyed a wonderful service at church and then headed out to the farm to eat lunch.

He was so excited about his basket!
Quick family picture taken before we headed into church.
We got out this rocking horse after Easter lunch. This rocking horse was made for me by my Papaw. He was such a talented craftsman. I wish that Corbin could have met him. I love how Corbin is holding the reins here.
I like my new ride.
Giddy up!

Ready for a New Adventure: 11 months

It is so hard to believe that this little man is 11 months old and soon to be a one year old! This year has just flown by so fast. Corbin is so full of life and joy...it is such a blessing to soak up every day and to see what kind of new things he is going to learn. He isn't walking quite yet but he is VERY determined and I am sure he is going to do it when he is good and ready. He really looks likes a little boy...our baby is gone! He is consistantly waving bye and we are working on hi, can clap, and says dada, mama, nana, and ya-ya. Definitely more babbling than before and we are working on self-feeding. He loves "cheese puffs". He is such a sweet little boy and we are so thankful that God blessed us with the opportunity to raise him. I am sure our lives are going to be a constant adventure with this boy as he continues to grow up!

There is always time to turn around for a smile.
